Art Sale Update 16th September at Studio 216 – WASPS Dennistoun
On 16th September (Part of Glasgow Open Doors weekend), a number of artists at Wasps 77 Hanson Street opened their doors. This was a one day event – which was on for a few hours – and did rather well — however, I’m going to keep going a bit longer, because I feel it’s great to make space for new projects in my studio
whilst contributing to a very worthwhile cause!
I have framed and unframed oils on canvas, woodcut prints (only one left!), some doggie cards (sold out), prints, and originals oil on wood, plus several mixed media experiments, landscapes and abstracts. I will also allow people to obtain copies of some unique watercolours and oils that have never been exhibited before.
Children were given as a gift the remaining copies of an illustrated book I had created a while ago for a charity event (Red Hen, therapy group for children with learning disabilities). It’s still available on Kindle, but it has now run its course as a paper book.
My prices will be kept relatively low so that I can maximise my income in order to raise funds for Enable Glasgow – an organisation that supports people with a learning disability in so many ways, among which supported living and supported working – moreover also clubs, events, healthy living awareness, artworks and theatre.
Having worked as a Support Worker many years while at University I know the difference between keeping disabled people safe and being totally committed to their well being, actively encouraging them to choose the life they want to live, and do the things they love. Enable Glasgow was founded by parents and family members, and it’s still run this way –
I’ve raised 44% of my target, so any further donations will be much appreciated – visits to the studio can be made by appointment.
